BE ALL OF YOU
The way I see it, we are not just daughters of our parents, we are daughters of the world.
The world has 7.5 billion people on its surface, and you know what the majority strive for? They strive for the safe, the quiet, the slow, the status (quo), the beige, the buttoned-up, the path that's paved, the way to FIT-IN.
My intention is not to -and I hope to never- judge another for how they find fulfillment in life (so long as their heart is kind and their words and bodies do no harm). But, I believe in what the world needs more of, that that's women who STAND OUT.
The stand-outs are the ones who speak up, strut, trust their gut, get messy, go barefoot, wear dem heels, turn dem heads, dare greatly, ask more questions, seek less approval, ride the big waves, rock the damn boat, draw a line in the sand, and then bushwhack their way to the mountaintop.
🏄🏾♀️ 🚣🏼♀️ 🏔
We need you and we need all of you. We need your perfect sum of shape, race, faith, sexuality, nationality, opinions, decisions, style, and swagger.
7.5 billion people and counting... and not one of them is exactly like you and not one of them is going to love all of you. Literally the one and only person who gets that privilege is YOU.
*In honor of being a daughter and an adult, I'm going to close with my pleases and thank-yous*
Please stand out, babe. Please do not apologize for all that you are. I am so thankful you exist and I am so thankful you've read these words.
To Peace & Love & Freedom
...now let's put a juicy cherry on this sundae with some Betty Davis funk!
