Sui generis
Definition: Unique
Origin: Latin: of its own kind
First and foremost, our education begins with the idea of Sui Generis, our unique existence. The fact that our particular make-up, from our outward physiology to our internal chromosomal biology to our soul’s journey, has never before and will never again be as we are.
Trust
Definition: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
After we recognize that a unique genius lies within us all, our next step is to trust our current placement in time and space. This is mirror work, and we’ll start by asking ourselves questions:
Where do I currently live?
What do I currently look like?
How am I serving others on a daily basis?
Who are my friends?
So many questions to ponder regarding our status in the here and now. And we’ll answer them twice.
FIRST: Answer as objectively as possible. For instance, I would answer the aforementioned questions as follows:
I live in Clinton, Massachusetts
I am 5’7” tall with a slender physique. I have wavy, long, light brown hair. My skin is white.
I create artwork that I share with my family, friends, and wider creative audience. I devote time and energy to loving and nurturing my husband and dog.
I have three girlfriends that I can count on through thick and thin. I have a longer list of girlfriends that live either nearby (see them often) or far away (text and/or DM via Instagram).
SECOND: Answer as subjectively as possible. This is where we’ll let our emotional selves respond. Let her rip. Be judgemental, superficial, dissatisfied, frustrated, exhausted…any and all of it.
